Thermal footfall counter area view More than 80,000 Irisys people counters have been shipped in the last six years. Thermal counters accurately detect people by their body heat profile. They're ideal for general people traffic counting, measuring live occupancy, queue management and a range of security applications. They are widely used to monitor footfall in the transport, banking, retail, security and leisure industries.

Thermal counters are non-intrusive and unaffected by light, heat or inanimate objects, which can destabilise other technologies. Their usual accuracy is more than 96%, making them suitable for providing live occupancy management — find out more in our Wembley case study.

We use the new IRC3000 version of the tried and tested thermal counter, which has higher image processing power for even greater accuracy, a solid state memory to time-stamp data, and thermal imaging technology with IP connectivity. A dual-view IRC3030 version of this counter with an additional on-board IP video camera is also available, allowing even greater count validation.

The unit fits to the ceiling just inside and above an entrance and monitors the thermal signature of customers passing underneath. It can therefore count bi-directionally even when a number of people are passing simultaneously. The IRC3000 connects to our RECAP software for unmatched levels of web-based reporting.

Irisys IRC3030 – ‘DualView’IP enabled thermal imaging and video people counter

alt The IRISYS IRC3030 ‘DualView’ people counter with video capability is the latest model in the Irisys thermal imaging people counter family, and it is also the world’s first dual-technology counting device. The IRC3030 multiplexes both the thermal people count data, the stored count data, diagnostic information and the video stream onto a single IP data stream. The IP capability allows remote viewing, configuration and data collection over IP infrastructure, either over an in-store LAN, or for worldwide viewing from remote locations over the internet.

An embedded web-browser set-up and configuration tool is provided free with the unit which allows the video and thermal views to be observed simultaneously. The added video capability provides a live real-time image of the scene, allowing the counter to be configured locally or remotely with a high degree of certainty and thereby achieving an unmatched level of accuracy. The video view also allows measurement of the absolute accuracy, provides the capability for end-user verification and reporting purposes, and provides the ability to fault find and adjust counter settings at remote locations. The IRC3030 combines the well-known ease of use and low cost of ownership of the existing Irisys IRC1004 and IRC300 units with the absolute verification capability provided by the verification video feed, over a single IP channel.
